If
the idea of flying like a bird over pristine countryside
and
making the skies your playground grabs you we recommend
you give paragliding a try!
Paragliding is one of the most affordable
and feasible ways of achieving free-flight. It is easy to
learn and allows you to own an aircraft without needing
an expensive hangar or special pilot license and best of
all this aircraft in a backpack can be carried
in the boot of your car. You launch by running down a gentle
slope (self fueled) and ride the winds to climb higher and
glide about as you please.
Paragliding is practiced across the world
by all kinds of people with different abilities.
Records of thousands of feet in height, coring
incredible thermals and hundreds of kilometers cross country
jumping from ridge to ridge have been achieved but the bulk
of paragliding pilots are hobby pilots who indulge in this
gentle adventure sport for weekend recreation. What better
way to de-stress from the city than to head for the hills
to join the camaraderie of pilots in the sky, to peacefully
float around and enjoy the simplicity and beauty of flight
and renew your connections with nature.
The learning experience is fun and progressive.
Early lessons are easy to learn and by day two you will
be flying solo. First flights are short but exhilarating.
Invest more time and commitment and you will progress to
soaring for hours and maybe looking at learning advanced
skills and aiming higher and further, joining the ever growing
movement of paraglider pilots who indulge in flying holidays
with the purpose of sampling the air at different sites
within the country and the world.
