Before you invest in a training course here are a few things to consider before signing up with a school.

The Price issue

money One of the most common mistakes prospective students make is to select a school solely on the basis of price. Just as when choosing a brain surgeon, look for skill first and price second. When considering the cost of lessons, remember: you get what you pay for. Low tuition prices often result in few teaching days and low stocks of equipment.

Learning the right way

learning on groundIn your first two courses you practice and master the fundamentals of the sport. These courses will form the foundation for everything you learn about flying in the future. To be a safe pilot throughout your flying career you will need time and individual attention to perfect the skills that make a competent hobby pilot. Ensure that your beginner course gives you enough time to learn the basics and get them right. This will increase your confidence, hone your skills and give you a decent number of short flights before you proceed to longer and higher flights.

Across the world there are bodies such as USHGA - United States hang gliding and paragliding association, BHPA – British hang gliding and paragliding association etc. these associations formed by the local schools and clubs govern the sport within the respective country and shoulder the responsibility for ensuring adequate training, pilot and instructor qualifications, aircraft worthiness and safety as well as monitoring training with the view of increasing standards. The sport in India is still in a nascent stage and the country is a large one. Up till now we do not have any standardized systems. Nirvana Adventures, since inception followed the USHGA pattern. Over the years we have modified our system to suit our geography and weather and are now closer to the BHPA module.

An established school

students with instructorsIt takes only a few days to learn the basics of flying, yet you may want to choose a school that will be involved in your development as a pilot if you decide to continue with the sport as a hobby. Choose a school with which you can have a long term association and has a plan in place to keep its students in the air.

OUR INSTRUCTORS, STAFF & TRAINING PROGRAM

  • Nirvana Adventures has full time instructors and staff available to teach you on a daily basis. Our Instructors are dedicated, have years of training and flying experience and have flown in flying sites around the area, the country and the world. Kamshet, Pune, Satara, Lonavala, Goa, Bangalore, Ratnagiri, Kerala, Billing (Himalayas), Sri Lanka and Oludeniz (Turkey) to name some

  • We follow a planned system of training that draws from international standards mainly British Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (BHPA) standard operating procedures and pilot proficiency systems modified to suit to our geography and weather. We put you through the paces keeping your level of fitness, comfort and progress in mind. Radio contact as you launch, fly and land accompany you throughout all of your training flights.

  • Each student is allotted equipment for their exclusive use during the course period ensuring that you do as much ground training and as many flights as possible in each session. The entire set of equipment consisting of a helmet, paraglider, harness & radio corresponding to your weight range and skill level is reserved for your exclusive use on the days of your training so you do not waste precious time waiting until someone else finishes his turn.

  • Our course programs are designed to keep your flying needs in mind. For example our 3 day achieving free flight program is great for someone looking for a one time free flight experience. By the end of this course you complete 3 to 5 solo flights and many more bunny hops or low level flights. If you decide you want to continue with the sport you can upgrade to the beginner 5 day course which gives you enough time to practice the basics ( ground handling, take offs and landings) and get them right. This increases your confidence and hones your skills, giving you a number of short flights before you proceed to longer and higher flights.

  • We have a flexible training program. You may choose to do a course or even two courses at a stretch or over weekends if this suits you better. This has allowed us to train pilots form around the country and the world. (Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Goa, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Vishakapatnam, Salem, Delhi, Sri Lanka, the Middle East, France, UK, Italy, Spain, Hong Kong, Singapore , China, Thailand, Germany, Switzerland, Turkey, Alaska, Holland, Denmark , New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Mexico , Belgium , Finland, America and Russia).

  • Incase you are traveling abroad or in case of our non Indian students we liaise with the local school / club and assist you in getting the necessary paperwork to fly abroad.

  • Our student - instructor ratio of 3:1 ensures that you get personal attention, doesn’t waste your time or compromise on your safety.

OUR REPUTATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • We have been flying and teaching at Kamshet since 97’. Over the years we have trained numerous people from all over the country and the world. We have run training programs in Goa, Bangalore and Sri Lanka. Our activities have been featured in a variety of reputed newspapers & periodicals.

  • We have discovered the area & the sites, built the necessary infrastructure, and have converted this remote area into an attractive paragliding destination drawing students and pilots from all over the world. When you fly with us you share our goodwill and our experience.

  • Paragliding is a wind based sport and your initial classes have to be conducted in smooth gentle winds. Our area boasts idyllic flying weather, constant conditions and consistently trainable sites where one is usually assured of a morning and late afternoon window (training / flying period) when the winds are gentle and consistent. In the rare event that the weather gets unsuitable we inform you ASAP. If you are already at Native Place with us, we usually plan something to do so that the time is well spent.

  • When advising our clients about purchasing a wing we focus on making the right match between ‘you and your equipment’. We make sure we advice our students according to their ability, needs and regularity of their flying.

OUR MOTTO AND GUIDING PRINCIPLES

  • Our emphasis is on getting our students to enjoy the sport and fly safely. We have a proven track record and will be here to support you long into the future.

  • Upgrading our equipment and our teaching skills to keep abreast with the latest innovations in the sport is high on our list of priorities. It is our policy to have the best equipment available to our students and clients. Our high standards have always been appraised by those who attend our courses.

  • We are conservative in our training programs and teaching and tandem flights are done only in ideal conditions.

  • Our courses incorporate a holiday atmosphere so along with learning to fly you get to chill out and have a break from work and the city as well.
