10 day APPI 3 License Program

Prerequisites: APPI 2 Valid Rating

Pilot Rating: Club Pilot / APPI 2 Explore License

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?

This course is designed for you if you have already completed your club pilot or 11 day course and gotten the APPI 2 rating.

The goal of this course is mainly to work on the skills you’ve already learned to increase your proficiency and make you independent in all aspects of flying by increasing your airtime and number of flights while also  more on ground handling.

You will also learn a few new skills and learn how to thermal if conditions are suitable, but the focus is to really nail down the basics. 

WHAT DO I LEARN FROM IT?

Here’s the learning outcome and syllabus you’ll tackle during this course

Ground School & Theory

• Advanced meteorology: thermal lift, terrain–wind interactions, micro-weather
• Aerodynamics and glider/harness behaviour in diffrent conditions
• Air-law, site rules, decision-making frameworks (risk‐management, pilot self‐evaluation)
• Equipment review: reserve parachute procedures, pre-flight checks, safety systems
• Briefing & de-brief routines: adopting the pilot mindset, continuous improvement

In-Flight & Practical

• Site assessment: weather, launch & landing zone choice, flight strategy planning
• Soaring & thermal flights with reduced instructor supervision: ridge and intro to thermal flying, variable conditions
• Precision take-offs and landings in variable conditions; correct use of speed-bar, weight-shift turns
• Ground-handling refresher sessions (canopy kiting, reverse launches) for enhanced control
• In-flight decision making: managing changing lift/downdraft, maintaining situational awareness
• Log-book requirements as per APPI criteria (e.g., minimum number of high flights, written/oral exam)
• Certification tasks: practical evaluation, written & oral exams

WHERE DO I REACH AT THE END OF THE COURSE… WHAT NEXT?

At the end of the course you will give the APPI 3 Practical and theoretical exams and once you’ve passed them you will get the APPI 3 Rating.

Upon successful completion of above steps you will be rated as an Independent Pilot under the APPI system. You’ll be qualified to fly solo on our home site, make your own decisions, and join Fly Nirvana’s thermalling, XC & advanced clinics.

Fees

Enrol for 10-Day APPI- 3  License Course for Rs. 70000 + 18%GST per head  (food, stay, and transport to the base of the  flying site included)

We run blocks of this course during Kamshet’s prime flying season (November – May). Please contact us for current availability, start-dates and pricing.  Fee includes training, stay, food and equipment rental — GST applicable.

Important: Book early to secure your slot—our groups remain small to ensure quality instruction.

Nirvana Adventures puts your safety first: We are conservative when it comes to training you on bunny slopes, tandem flights or High mountain sites. We do this only when the conditions are ideal. Safety is our main concern and we rely on good weather conditions for training you. Kamshet is fortunate enough to have the best climate with light and moderate winds for most of the year round, so fly-able days are plentiful.
